Luke Conner, President of the British Business Club in Russia, is an English law qualified solicitor with over 13 years of experience in the Russian legal market. A graduate of the University of Manchester and Nottingham Law School, and trained in the City of London. Luke specialises in corporate finance, M&A and banking transactions in the Russian market and internationally.

Vladimir Pukish is an author, historian and superb raconteur. Fanagoria Winery, one of Russia’s largest modern wineries, was founded in 1957 on the Taman peninsula near the site of the ancient Greek city Phanagoria (sixth century BC). Fanagoria has more than 3,500 hectares of grape vineyards that include indigenous varieties such as Saperavi, Tsimlansky Black and Krasnostop Zolotovsky and European varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Franc, Aligote, Chardonnay and Riesling.

Signs of Success: Presenting some of Russia’s Best Wines

Maria Matiashova is a Sommelier in Moscow. She previously was Sommelier at Usadba Myskhako winery in Novorossiysk. She gained laboratory experience at other Krasnodar wineries including Villa Viktoria and Fanagoria Estate Winery, and at the North Caucasus Federal Research Center for Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking. Maria has a degree in winemaking from Kuban State Technological Institute and a certificate as sommelier from the St. Petersburg wine school “Pro Sommelier”.

Critic’s View

Olga Semencha runs Tenuta Foresta, a family-owned winery in the Piedmont region of Italy. She also has two independent wine boutiques in Moscow: Vinoteka Il Vino, at Nizhnyaya Krasnoselskaya 35 bldg 50 and Leningradsky Prospekt 66. Olga holds regular wine education evenings at Il Vino.
